What got you interested in Cognitive Type?

Short Story: My Cousin.
Long Story: I walked out of a work meeting frustrated that I couldn’t get people to listen to me.  Of course I turned to the internet for answers and stumbled upon Type.  It really helped me understand why I faced so many communication gaps.  That said, I took several online tests getting several different results until I settled on INTP.  It seemed to resonate best for me in terms of cognitive functions and archetype.  Then one day I was discussing type with my cousin and he immediately pulled, “Oh yeah, easy, you’re INFJ, ... your eyes move this way, you gesticulate that way...”  His analysis rally blew me away and had me rethinking my type as I had never been fully happy with INTP.  Ultimately he was wrong.  I got typed by CT and came out NeFi ||_|.  It was totally not the type I expected but it started to make more sense once development levels came into play. Now I’m neck deep in this stuff.

What got you interested in Cognitive Type?
I found CogType through the INTJ & INFP Coffee channel on Youtube. I was looking for more ways to type myself and found the visual typing series they started on their channel. I wanted to see what type I would get, so after mustering up some courage, I submitted a video on the old forum. After a few comments and an analysis, NeFi  Seelie was the result (though Sitbone did say that I could be an SiTe :p)! Lately, I've been wondering if I turned unseelie and whether or not I was another type, haha. :p
What did/do you type as in other systems?
In grade 8 or 9, I received ISFP after taking the 16personalities test. I completely forgot about the Myers Briggs test until grade 10 where my social studies teacher told us to take it. I got INFP. However, I wasn't exactly satisfied with the answer and redid the test many times. Sometimes, I received INTP or ISFP, but INFP was the result I've gotten the most. Once, I got ESTJ. I tried other tests but I felt like I knew how to answer the questions to get a specific result.
Now that I think of it, I feel like after watching someone on Youtube, like an interview, I sort of.... act like that person? It's almost as if I absorbed a little bit of their energy... I don't really know....

I always liked to understand the human psychology, but it really started when I've noticed that I was getting a hard time with the social specially making the first move, which made me a little uncomfortable around people that's when I started studying human behavior in order to smoothen my life. Because by knowing what impact my actions have I can give the right tone. I then started studying psychology. With the systems which work with the 16 types, I started with MBTI untill I realize that it doesn't ring well with my reality. It is when I learnt about cognitive type through a youtube channel.

INTP is what I initially typed as in MBTI; embarassingly I thought I was INFJ until I was bludgeoned by my vultology report. However, upon reflection I think NeTi actually makes more sense. I could never quite figure out exactly what Se was in relation to myself or how to develop it. Turns out I never had it.

I have typed as an INFP in the MBTI for forever, EII in socionics, and as a 9w1 in the enneagram. I used to think I was a 4w5, but it didn't really fit as well as the trappings of the type 9.

I somehow stumbled upon it through other MBTI articles. I was always fascinated by VI in Socionics but this system seems much more thought out. And I love a well thought out system with classifications and types and all that. It's like Pokemon on steroids. but with people, except we don't store ourselves in small spherical objects.
What did/do you type as in other systems?
INFJ or ENFJ. I've always been unsure about introvert or extrovert. I never thought I would be an SeTi just because of other descriptions of those types. I have heard though that its common for people to type as their tertiary and inferior functions tho so SeTi makes sense. I can see myself utilizing Ni Fe Ti or Se depending on the situation and what I'm doing at the time.

Had a conversation with someone who was into visual typing. Asked where he had learned it from and among others things he gave me a link to this website. Now, after half a year or so I came back to it and found it to be quite interesting.

As a teenager I thought I might be an INFP but never really settled on any type. Last summer I finally wanted some closure and after considering almost every type (xD) settled on ISFP mostly based on the descriptions of cognitive functions and the feedback others gave me.

What got you interested in Cognitive Type?
Ever since I was in grade 9 I've been really interested, almost obsessed with myers briggs and personality typing in general. I stopped short at the traditional typing system, but then I discovered a youtube channel called INFP & INTJ coffee (currently called Casual Cognition) which referenced cognitivetype.com. At first I was a bit skeptical of the microexpressions and vultology, but lately it seems to have become more of an interest to me.
What did/do you type as in other systems?
I've typed as various Feeling types. I've been typed as an ISFP, INFP, ENFP and INFJ. Later on I was pretty sure I was an ENFP, until I did a test from cognitive8.com which said I was ENTJ. I was shocked and quite angry that someone dared to type me as a Te dom, its a function I had a bad opinion of. I argued with the test maker, but she insisted it was correct. The only part I agreed with was that my Fi was very well developed, but it made no sense to me since ENTJ represses Fi. I decided to dismiss it at first as inaccurate. However I then decided to take this test on cognitivetype.com and I received a similar typing, however I was now an INTJ or Ni-Te. The description of Ni dominant function as well as the tertiary Fi struck a chord with me. I'm not so sure about the Te, but perhaps I use it more often than I think. And I do think I have a love/hate relationship with Se.

I have a question
I wonder why I've always been typed as an ENFP, even the cognitive functions seemed to make sense on paper. However my microexpressions are quite different, except for the Te-Fi axis which is quite consistent. I've always wondered. Is ENFP a type I've always wanted to be that I completely disregarded the possibility that I could be an NTJ, even a Thinking type?
And how does the Ni-Se axis actually differ from the Ne-Si axis?

My gosh you're a complicated case as I've been telling you in Emails.
I think there was some major energetic constraints in your first videos, but you appear to have been SeFi after all (not NiTe), as we see in your new interview vids. Interview format videos really are a must, and so I've just added a clarification in the vid submission page that at least one video should be done as an interview, since this has been a problem with other members as well. Quite a long overdue decision, really. Sorry about that!
Anyhow, we have a lot of SeFi's here who have also typed as ENFP in other systems, and I think you'll find their insights helpful! The SeFi's here are some of our most "intuitive" (as per other system's definitions) members, but it comes from a different metabolic route. The differences between the Ni/Se and Ne/Si axis are a common topic of discussion, so I'm sure you'll find plenty in our boards.

Just want to say congrats to Auburn for being the only person able to accurately type me!
I always identified with NE FI in MBTI & Socionics, but was only ever typed as TI NE (mostly) SI FE (one bad typing that I paid for) or Gamma NT, which led me to doubt my own interpretation of the theories/myself
I always ended up back at NE FI though, so congrats again!

Thank you. I agree with CB, your typing has been the most accurate so far, especially because you take your customers seriously if they don't completely agree with the first assessment. it also made me realize that I need to be more natural and less rigid as you say in front of the camera.
I definitely think that I have negative perceptions of Se, thinking I was far too intuitive to be an Se dominant. However the more I look at the descriptions of the gamma types, Se and Ni, the more I feel like it fits me like a glove, and I never really considered this before. So thanks a lot, you've opened my eyes and helped me see myself for who I really am, as well as the fact that I have a unique function development, showing that everyone is unique.
