These four aspects are somewhat tied together so that the integration or progress made in one of them can catalyze change made in another, but that’s not always the case. At this level of granularity, one aspect may be at negative numbers (repression) while another might not be. So for example one might still have a repressed relationship to the p…

To summarize, what you’re describing about your journey looks to me like this:
First: Your Te was repressed, attached perhaps to other psychic complexes, and manifesting as a daimon. The way out of this stage appeared to be Integrating it’s Behavioral Attributes (Skills) as well as it’s Archetypal Character (Bull).
Second: This brought you up to…

That’s great, Aub, thanks! I’ll reply tomorrow, but thank you for being receptive to my feedback!

@Aub, excellent!! I do agree with almost everything you’ve written. I think we pretty much see the psyche the same way, so that’s great! And yes, your description of a repressed Te is not too far from my own issues, actually. I think I’m just a little bit lost on whether we define all shadowy issues touching upon a function as -1 or if that refers…[Read more]

Hey, Aub! Fantastic job, as usual. I have a few thoughts on it I’ve shared on the discord, and I further recommend the Jung to Live By channel where a couple of Jungian therapists with long experience talk about the psyche, shadow, complexes, the unconscious, etc., in a way that’s highly insightful and, IMO, very effective if one is seeking some…[Read more]

I don’t know your situation, Cedar. However, my assumption is you were typed primarily from your vultology and that the behaviourism you point to was fit into it. Advocacy is a Je activity and it can be motivated by either F attitude since it’s a question of values (what is being advanced/protected in the advocacy). I’d be shocked if mere advocacy…[Read more]

The shadow is an interesting topic, and the way I would contextualize it in the above posts is that the difference between the daimon and muse (it’s the same thing at core) is whether or not the ego sees it as part of the self or not; hence the felt “otherness” of the daimon. And that is essentially a description of the shadow, as the shadow i…

I like your ‘double’ terms, @celeste! They synchronize nicely with the Double Extro/Intro we’re already used to! Double J, Double P are just great IMO.
Last month I started noticing a little habit that I didn’t have before Te was brought into consciousness and is one that funnily enough, causes me to be extremely embarrassed if anyone sees me d…

I have Dr. John Beebe’s books.
@courtjester, which ones? I’ve tried looking 4 his books and haven’t found any; just some old pdfs. Can you help me with links, please? I really adore his ideas.

I feel all the time. For me, peace is detachment from the emotional whirlwind. I aspire to be like that tarrot card: Temperance. Or strength.

Faex replied to the topic Seelie & Adaptive vs. Unseelie & Directive: Is it Related to Conflict Avoidance? in the forum Cognitive Functions 1 year, 7 months ago
Hi, @ladynerdsky!
Jumping in as an unseelie Fi-lead. I don’t think it’s conflict avoidance at all, and I think the descriptions and depictions of unseelie Fi as dismissive, haughty, vengeful, somewhat evil or grinch-like are exaggerated.
When I said that, I was deliberately describing a misconception I had had, not an official definition. Not…[Read more]

OMG, @hannah, you use Se/Ni after all! Your eyes confused me a great deal, they didn’t look Ne/Si brushstroke but they also didn’t look Se/Ni intense. Interesting! Welcome to the second family!!!

I’ve brought this up in our circles before but not here and I should probably make a record of it, so here goes.
First, there’s a model of the psyche that sees it as consisting of cognition, emotion, and conation. Cognition is how we think/understand etc, emotion is as the name suggests, and conation refers to ACTION. The part of the mind…[Read more]

Ah, ok, then. Np.
I think 1>2>3>4 is good for me for hierachy. There’s a reason we think NeFi I-I- are NeFis and not NeTes. We might not yet be able to say exactly how the undeveloped Fi colours the personality but we know it does. -
Faex replied to the topic Functional Stack, levels of development and function descriptions in the forum Cognitive Functions 1 year, 8 months ago
Huh? @auburn, why did you split that away? I was contributing to these function stack myth ideas. :S Confuzzled.
Essentially suggesting, per Beebe’s model:- Top function as the Protagonist of a person’s personal story
- Second as a powerful ally or mentor
- Third as a side-kick
- Fourth as the gateway to the Unconscious.

So, for me personally, I can say Fi is the goal of any “parenting” I do with anyone: I see the inherent goodness of the one “parented” and try to build their own sense of it (I take their innate okness forgranted and don’t make them try to earn it; give them acceptance; draw their attention to the wonderfulness of their being, inspire them,…[Read more]

I’m sorry 4 taking the thread off topic again with my Ne tangents (I promise it’s not usually on purpose!), but to bring it back on course, @auburn, @ladynerdsky, I wonder about John Beebe’s Archetypal model.
He matches archetype to hierarchy. He was one of Jung’s own students and a Psychiatrist and he came up with it. Now, granted, it’s based…[Read more]

Auburn makes a great teacher. He just has to let go his hangups about how a youtube presenter is spossed to be like. He’s not trying to sell an idea, impress anybody: Just stick to being himself, i.e, explaining what this fascinating thing is. Forget there’s an audience. Pple don’t realize the thing that’s the best on the internet is authenticity…[Read more]
