I feel like now that this thread has been started, it might be a good place to throw a thought I’ve wondered about for a long time–ever since I originally got typed and my result was something I didn’t expect, but with signal mixing with the type I did expect.
I’ve noticed that anecdotally, people often belong to the same quadra as a parent or…[Read more] -

@bera I am inclined to disagree. I have shown many Excessive Contempt signals (especially in one video, which was actually one of my typing videos) but very little Te. I see no reason why other people with Fi but not Te conscious couldn’t do the same. The disgust doesn’t have to be directed at the self, at all. It’s Ji, of which anything can be…[Read more]

Disgust, insofar as it is related to Je, could be the manifestation of the viscerally buried internal feeling through the process of re-organization (where I’ve found Fi conscious people are less prone to manifesting disgust, because of greater awareness).
@safsom Could you describe an example of that? The thought initially seems right to me, b…[Read more]

a.k.a.Janie replied to the topic How do you experience nostalgia? in the forum The General Hall 4 months ago
Well, OK then, here goes 🙂
Is there a nostalgic experience you feel like sharing?
Yes, actually later the same day (iirc) after posting on the V vs M thread, I was listening to music and a song came on. It wasn’t just any “oldie but goodie”, but it had that rare full-on effect that I might call “blast from the past” (lol), seemingly because of…[Read more]

Thank you for sharing @rua. Yes, that is very different than for me. Yours is so poetic and symbolic; and mine are so literal, I’m not even sure which if any of them can truly be called “nostalgia.” For example, sometimes when I see little kids, especially girls, I will get a flashback memory of having had the same shoes or article of clothing, or…[Read more]

This is so true, that it gave me chills. I’ve actually been going through a bit of V style catastrophizing recently regarding current events and the pattern I kept thinking was emerging. This helps explain what I’ve been doing. This explanation has made a few things click into place. Like, I can’t believe I never connected the word “archetype” to…[Read more]

a.k.a.Janie replied to the topic Emotional Attitudes (Updated) in the forum Cognitive Functions 4 months, 3 weeks ago
One thing this reminds me a lot of is Enneagram. Agreeable (Adaptive, Seelie) seems likely to have enneagram 9 for their gut fix. Disagreeable (Directive, Unseelie) more likely enneagram 8 or 1 for their gut fix. This even relates to the emotional boundaries point: 9’s have softer, more permeable boundaries and having a harder time saying no, w…

I’m kind of similar. To the point where, this probably would’ve raised an eyebrow if I had read it somewhere outside of a typology context, and didn’t know who had written it, I might suspect that the person was similar to me in this department. It sounds like we both have an intrinsic moral code, which is wired in at a deeper level than society’s…[Read more]

This strikes me as very good, informative, and also perhaps a healthier way of viewing types. This and related posts have challenged me to try to reach levels of understanding with others, which before I wouldn’t have bothered, and just been like, “well, that’s the difference between Fi and Fe”, for example, as if it were insurmountable. The view…[Read more]

I even had no idea I was ever seelie with other people around. That’s good to know. -

And higher neuroticism is partially identifiable by degree of flat affect.
So if there’s anything in CT that might predict the level of emotional affect/pain a person may feel, I think it’s flat affect.
There are degrees of flat affect? Does this mean there are examples of intermediate states between clearly flat affect and clearly not? Fro…[Read more]

a.k.a.Janie replied to the topic What Has Being Typed Accurately Done for You? in the forum General Psychology 8 months, 1 week ago
Direcly and indirectly, it has opened up a lot of doors to better self understanding, and of course, understanding of others and the world, as I’ve learned about the system and vultology, etc. I had been at a plateau phase in my personal growth and healing journey for a couple years or so prior, so this has been a very welcome advancement.

I relate to @delrake ‘s first comment, except that I’m a bit more wary of Ni–which makes sense because it isn’t conscious for me.
I think there are certain types of things, such as certain kinds of interpersonal relations, where my Se really works at maximum, taking in the sensory information at maximum resolution, because these are what’s deemed…[Read more] -

Nice! I would love to be able to connect this up to some real life examples, so it could really come to life for me (sorry, I’m a sensor lel).
So far, it reminds me of the idea that occurred to me while talking to someone with Ne, that Ne/Si users perceive things as discrete, and Se/Ni users perceive things as continuous.

Here’s one. I initially mistyped him as Ni. Part of the reason was I thought I saw raised outer edges. Maybe it is actually an Si signal, such as dancing brow? But the inner ends of his brows don’t noticeably rise, only outer.

a.k.a.Janie replied to the topic Overcoming limbic system reliance for Fi/Te differentiation from Fe/Ti in the forum Vultology & Learning Center 9 months, 3 weeks ago
My hypothesis was that Fi-Te sentences (especially high/conscious Te) seem to cascade by the pattern – A leads to B which leads to C and D
That is is exactly how I tend to describe scientific experiments. Te is concerned with abiotic causality and empiricism. Although, my Te is weak, and maybe that’s why I often think that I want to make sure e…[Read more]

Interesting. I wonder if seelie and unseelie signals can be modulated, like the cognitive functions can? Or maybe there’s a kind of meditation that could help achieve it. The breath is central to many forms of meditation, and deep breathing is recommended by psychologists for decreasing anxiety. It seems like a tendency to hold the breath (may…[Read more]
