Vultology Code Collective GIF Collection and Repository

Hi everyone,
I wanted to contribute to the collection of GIFs for the vultology code signals and indirectly for the revised CT Reading Web App, and I am sure others are interested in this too or have already collected some GIFs, so I wanted to get all our work together, if possible, and have created a Google drive folder/folders/files to collect all the GIFs. Anyone can edit it, so you can dump your GIFs in the appropriate folder/file. They are organized by groups and subgroups and the files are named after each signal, like for example Ne-1 or Si-5 or Te-5 etc.

To add a GIF to the Google drive folder/file:
All you have to do is search the signal name of the GIF you want to insert in the search bar (Ti-2 for example) and click the file that comes up with the signal name.

Then, once in the file, click "Insert," then click "Image" and then click "By URL" which will pop up a box that will let you input the GIF url from the GIF you created on the Giphy website.

Click "Insert" after you have pasted the url in the pop-up box and that's it, the GIF will be collected along with the other GIFs that are already there.

 
 
Some tips on collecting GIFS that I have learned so far and are working for me:
Don't search for individual signals, it takes forever to find it unless you know already that you can find it specifically somewhere.
Instead go to the CT database, pick some person that matches the signals you are looking to find by quadra  (for example, with Betas you are looking for Ti, Se, Ni, Fe) search for an interview on youtube of the person and if you see a signal that you recognize then make a GIF out of that.
Make a GIF per day, at least. Otherwise, for me, its kind of like torture ( I have collected only three GIFs so far: check out Ti-2, Te-3, and Si-1 ?).
Also, if you are not sure that you have the right signal, you should upload the GIF anyway. We need 5 per signal, so with hope, out of the GIFs that are collected over time for one signal (out of 20, for example) 5 will be correct.

Since Ne usually is just in fantasy world and has really "off-beat" ideas

While Se is "this is the real world"

So maybe that's why we look heavy

That's pretty much it. Se bodily presence is a persistent quality in direct comparison to Ne buoyant undercurrent (the two are an opposite pair). It's continuously there, but they're both evidenced most clearly in Pe fidgeting/restlessness. The fidgeting bodies of most Ne users have a level of suspension at all times, like they could move in all 6 degrees of freedom (a few millimeters) at any point in time for no specific environmentally-dependent reason. A little wiggle to the left, a micro-wiggle to the right, etc. Like a ballon, as has been noted before. The fidgeting bodies of most Se users have a level of density to them so that each transition from body-position "A" to "B" is more linear, and 'lands' right where it lands without bouncing elsewhere. It may move again right after, but each movement is more purposeful rather than random, and connects to its new location. I find it often relates to weight-support, and to comfort. So for example, shifting weight from one elbow to the other. Or transitioning from crossed legs to spread out legs in response to blood flow constriction.

do we constantly touch our hair because of this? I realized how bad it was when I tried to show Te on camera and I realized it would be ridiculous for high Te to constantly touch her hair, so I abstained from it...so...is it also connected to touching things, playing with objects etc?

yes, it comes from the general environmental awareness. I find Se girls do tend to shift their bangs more often, flip their hair to one side, then the other in ten seconds, etc.

Another one that lacks GIF signals, sourced from the FiSe thread:

Fi Unbridled Radiation

The unbridled radiation of Fi can be confused for body swaying because, in a technical sense it does involve swaying of the body but for altogether different reasons. To clearly demonstrate this, here we have GIFs of the two motions:

Here we see Monroe’s radiation. Again technically this is a tilt of the head, but is not a “P head tilt.” From a vultological standpoint, I believe the difference can be summarized as a “fall” of “collapse” of the head, rather than it being born from Pe momentum. As this is a seelie Fi signal, it manifests an unconscious vulnerability, which shows in a more receptive body.

Here we see one that’s a little less straightforward. Kate Bush tilts her head to the side while her shoulders relax down, and her gaze is kept forward-facing. This is not a Pe body sway. A Pe body sway would be born out of bubbling momentum, and carry the body along in a kind of “swing”, but instead what we see is a kind of coquette re-positioning of the head direction alongside a bodily vulnerability (i.e. shoulders dropping down). Fi’s radiation can take many forms. Here is one more common one:

If we look closely at this GIF, we see that it begins with a very big inhalation which causes the shoulders to also rise upwards, and then progresses into a subtle head tilt with the shoulders dropping back down. This pattern of inhalation + shoulders rising and dropping is another form that Fi radiates out emotion.
Finally, the GIF ends with her looking back up at the interviewer with a similar qualia to what we see in Kate Bush’s head re-positioning above. It’s as though the movement of the head carries addition micro-movements in it that swerve the torso and raise the chin. It’s comparable to what we see in the FiNe’s such as here with our FiNe volunteer Pine:

Here we see Fi’s radiation very clearly in a chin-raise and a forward swerve of the torso (i.e. body vulnerability). As you can see, there are many forms of radiation but all have one thing in common: they are movements not born out of Pe momentum but out of a softening of the body’s receptivity. The tendency will be for the movements to “fall” rather than to perk-up (Pe). I hope this explains it? But to provide some definitive contrast:

So I found a cool site that allows GIF making from .mp4 videos --which is the format of our database-- woot!

I'm trying to figure out a more user friendly way to go about this project. Just throwing this idea out there: https://makeagif.com/user/auburneye/albums -- using myself as an example:

^ This site allows "albums" similar to how Pinterest has albums. And you can sort your GIFs into albums as soon as you make them by clicking on this button in the "finished" page at the bottom left corner:

That means that you can "sort" the GIFs into the right folders at the same time as you make them without ever leaving the interface. Also, being able to use the Database videos for GIFs is awesome since we already have clean footage of confirmed samples-- and no annoying interviewer cutaways.

Collective Activity?

Now, what's interesting about this is that you can also add other people's GIFs to your albums. This means that if members wanted to make their own accounts, or even not signup but just make an anonymous GIF, that GIF can be saved into an album.
In effect, the continual --and perhaps even casual/passive-- use of MakeAGIF by our member-base can produce a wide archive of GIF signals if those signals are organized into albums with a simple click. I may be overlooking important details but so far this seems promising to me. Looking for feedback from members about the interface and what you all think of it? Would you use it?

How to Use?

Err, so in theory the way you'd use it would be like this:
1: Grab the video link from the database:

2: Go to makeagif.com and click on "Video to GIF" in the menu:

3. Paste the video url in the box:

4. Select timestamps (make sure your GIF size is set to "medium")

5. Hit "continue" then select a category (i.e. Celebrity) and hit "Create"

6. Done! Now you get your link and if you're logged in you can add the GIF to an album:

Annoyingly... the direct URL you want is contained within the "Markdown" strand and it force-copies the whole thing. You can either copy-paste the whole strand into notepad and delete the other bits, or do it with 1337 dexterity skills like this:

^ Drag-highlight the link then-- without lifting your finger off the left-click!-- you right-click and release the left-click on copy. And wa-la! That trick works in Chrome but not Firefox.

Thanks, @auburn. I think this will be a better method because it has the possibility for the process to be done more casually. Only @sekundaer of all the members was able to get a GIF in the google docs, and I gave up myself after I found out how long it took to search for specific GIFS. Sekundaer did have a good idea that I would propose too: members in the community, since finding and making the GIF takes such a long time, and then you don't even know if it's correct,  can to post the video link and a timestamp here , or in a separate thread, of a possible signal and I (or anyone else) can make the GIF for them and check if it's correct. I think I would be able to collect GIFS more effortlessly if I had better vultological reading experience, so I'm definitely looking forward to the vultology class.

Great! Okay, maybe here's an idea-- tell me what u think--?
We can make a "master" makeagif.com account that has premade "Albums" for each signal like you proposed up there. Whenever members make celebrity GIFs for various purposes (such as to demonstrate an idea in a thread) the master account can passively go in and add it to the corresponding album.
And if members want to try their hand at GIF making from the database, they can do so here or in a dedicated thread where I (and eventually also other readers) can confirm their accuracy and add them to the "master" account. So we'd have a gif librarian of sorts doing two things:

• Checking the GIF thread and approving good ones
• Passively checking the forum in general and adding GIFs as members make them

This should eventually lead to a large online library. And the GIFs are easy to preview by just hovering over each of them, making for a great learning resource which we can add to the site.

yes! I plan to do the SiFe thread in the first part of October, and will shift my focus on putting together a few quizzes after that, to test and see where our members are at. i'm gonna set a tentative deadline for myself of October 15th to finish the SiFe dev levels, and the quiz after that.

So...I opened an account on makeagif and made 10 gifs that I saved in a TeNi album. I thought I should start with a type that is a bit easier and popular right now, so I made 2 gifs for each of the first TeNi's I--- except for those who already had gifs in the thread.
I faced some technical issues :

• I didn't manage to delete the link to the whole video. I tried it several times on different browsers, including Chrome, but I think I am missing something.
• This is really silly... :)) but I didn't manage to post a nice cover image on the TeNi album. Again I tried several times but it didn't work.
• I didn't see any place where to add a comment to each gif, so I mentioned directly in the title what signals I thought I saw. I don't think this is optimal because it makes the titles very long, so if you have a different suggestion, please let me know !
• Although I chose the normal speed - 1 - I felt in some gifs the movements were faster than in the original. I am not sure if this was just an impression or is a real issue. Please tell me if you also encountered this problem and if you think we should decrease the speed below 1.

I also have a vultology question but I think I should ask it in the TeNi thread.
Now...how do we proceed ?

Should I add it somewhere? And then when I make new gifs, is there any notification or do I have to announce it every time? In case I do, at how many gifs should I announce the new input? 🙂
Also I think it would be good to talk from the start, so we don't make the same gifs twice.
I can do 2 gifs/TeNi that doesn't already have gifs, till I finish the ones that appear in the TeNi section.
But if someone else wants to make gifs of TeNi's, we could split them according to development levels. I would have actually loved to do I---'s for a start, so someone could continue from TeNi II-- and I could move to TeSi I---. What do you think?
Also where do these gifs get corrected? Should we make a new thread for this? 🙂

Interface
I ran into some of the same problems.I think the coders were giving a bit less priority to the albums, as a sort of afterthought, but I sent them a message asking for a few features lol. I might send another message or two on bug fixes.
1. I think it's okay that the link to the original video is shown, right?
2. Right, the album cover uploader wasn't working for me either. But I found another way, by using existing GIFs in the album. Clicking on the 3 dots on the top-right corner:

This does work but then you're limited to options within the album. Still that might not be too bad?
3. Hmm, right. And I don't imagine they'd add a comments feature really. That's more like Imgur, which has a different intended purpose.
How about we remove the celebrity Name+Type from the GIFs and just call it by 1-3 signals max? We don't necessarily need the celeb named for the vultology code-- as what matters is the signal. And we don't need to list every signal in the GIF, just the ones we are aiming to highlight by it.
4. I haven't seen any big speed changes but I personally wouldn't mind if the speed appears fast since it makes the looping happen faster and the signal shows a little more clearly. Oh hey y'know, slowed-down speed can also come in hand with things like Fi Wobbling Lips which usually takes micro-pausing to identify.

Now…how do we proceed ?

I'm still trying to figure this out, but your feedback is helping form a strategy. I'm caught up with the final dev levels and other things atm, but if you wanted to sample the other TeNi's that's be awesome. I'll reply in the following posts to your GIFs album! 🙂

I wonder if this helps?
Also, there are many more signals in the GIFs that the ones strictly listed here (for example, plateau emphasis is in all of them but Ashley Judd). But I think the way we can make this work is by highlighting the minimal amount or the most clear aspects shown-- for the sake of building learning tools.
