The degree of a signal would be interesting to quantify. I always think of the guru (Osho) at the front site of the website as he has extremely hypnotic eyes. And it was part of his persona not to be shaken by anything but just sit there at his throne and make politically incorrect jokes about religion and other delicate subjects, which cou…[Read more]

I think that was very good observations,@Wolf00 . Really helped me being able to make the distinction.
When I saw the old video of him I agreed with @Animal that he seemed much more introverted there. Funny thing, usually people move in the opposite direction, those who are flamboyant in their youth gets more restraint as older.
It is for su…[Read more] -

Ok, maybe it need explanation. Tom cruise is used as example of directive Fe. Yesterday I stumbled upon this photo and to me it looks like Te-taut square cheeks. Also seems like horizontally split. Also it looks like Fi snarling. If yes, it means that even this amount of signals at a given moment does not necessary imply the functio…[Read more]

Just want to add that I do not claim to have knowledge about development/integration of CT functions (which it could seem like if I did in the above) but I have many years of experience working with sub-personalities, and since uncovering opposites to conscious parts of our psyche (‘shadows’) and working on the integration of these follow a pat…[Read more]

@bera
“…how can I deeply empathize while imposing my views on someone? :))) How can I do sassy emphasis while leaving space for vulnerability?”
I guess two “parts”, two sub-personalities that are opposites – in this case Fi and Te – can be seen as thesis and antithesis and if there is no synthesis, then one is stuck in either one part OR in the…[Read more] -

@Auburn – My english vocabulary is too limited for me to recommend a term, but I would suggest a synonym for reduced facial tension (unfortunately already used as a Ti signal). Flat affect is very drastic. If a psychiatrist saw the examples of flat affect in the database he would not even call it restricted affect.
The word affect is in itself…[Read more]

I have always had problems with this signal, which I think must have its origin in psychiatry where the same term is used about a lack of emotional expression due to relaxed muscles in the face. Maybe the signal as used in CT is a bit different (btw, I think it then should have another name, for example diminished affect, as flat affect is a…[Read more]

@ Bera Yes, it a more appropriate version of the Trolley problem you present. Maybe your very careful attention to all the facets of the problem where you look at every little possibility of pain for all the involved, now and in the future, is empathy at work in Fi. I can almost imagine that a psychophysical measurement would have shown em…[Read more]

I can understand the inclination to stay at this level, but I think the word values is also not getting at it. For example, often times Ti values symmetry, Ti values consistency, Ti values truth. Te values efficiency, Te values unobstructed processes, Se values experiences, Ne values potentialities, etc.
Yes, values are way too broad, but I guess…[Read more]

I like the idea of getting beyond associating F with emotionality, which does not seem valid, and the biotic/abiotic thesis is interesting. The dimension thinking-feeling seems to have been a headache from the beginning, I have always wondered why Jung choosed the word if he did not believe F was about feelings. The effect have been that the…[Read more]

Soeren Kierkegaard (1813-1855) wrote about four kinds of despair in “The Sickness Unto Death”.
Possibility < – – – – – – – – – > Necessity
Infinite < – – – – – – – – – > Finite
Despair is the best translation from Danish, but be aware that it has nothing to do with being sad, but rather being split into two. In German the wo…[Read more]

Just an example: This is what I see as a Fe-smile (from an alpha) and Fe is backed up by a lot of Ti.
But then there is ongoing sassy movements (like fx here: 03:00 and here 10:26 ) and plateau velocity (07:11/21:09 ).
I cant post the csv-file as I didnt save it (didnt know what is was for). -

Just want to give my approval of this conversation which had the risk of going wrong in so many ways and since the same words have so different meanings for each of you it would have made it very difficult to clear things up if the debate became a heated one. But you are both so civilized and also good listeners. Thanks

I just found out there was an interview with the youtuber Frank James – who have done tons of videos about MBTI.
I like to watch his parodies, especially the ones he has made of enneagram types, he made one recently about how each type are doing during the quarantine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I79GWJ5YXgsBut here is the interview with h…[Read more]

Thank you @- Jannie for guiding me to this thread, highly relevant for what we were discussing.
At first I would never consider Ti or any function more free of the egoic self than the others. And when I say this it is only based on my idea of what must be the truth – a Ti axiom. Its probably so that many Ti users are not identified with the…[Read more] -
