Feature Update: (cancelled)
A live chat plugin has now been added to the forum. You can view who’s online or direct message someone from your friend’s list.
To message an offline friend, type their name in the “search friend” field at the bottom, and click enter. Their name will show up above, and you can click it to begin a conversation. Naturally you must “friend” them first before they’ll show up.
(Hope you enjoy this new feature. Lemmy know if there’s any problems with it.)

Sometime today, the site will go down for hopefully no more than a few hours.
Will be implementing a big security update (moving from http to https) but this may break a lot of things at first. If, after the migration to https, you experience issues — leave a message here or visit our discord ( https://cognitivetype.com/discord-chat/ ) where I’ll be available. Thanks!

Forum and website software’s been updated.
Lots of changes, but I’m going to name the big ones.
Menu
^ We now have a really fancy, professional, mega menu.
Most of the website content is now accessible on an immediate hover.
No more need to struggle with the clunky submenu layout of the Model tab.
Now it’s all laid out in one window like this:
You’ll also find there’s been a general rearrangement of content alongside this new information structure. There is now a tab called “Courses” that shows you the two vultology courses currently available, with room for more in the future. Feel free to explore the rest of it, there’s too much to name. π
Night Mode Theme Toggle
This one’s been announced on Discord but not here, and it’s finally fully implemented. It’s a response to Teatime’s:
Found a bug:
Spoiler:
I CANβT READ THE WEBSITE.Now you can switch from Light/White to Dark/Black by toggling the switch at the bottom of the site here:
The entire website changes appearance, to make it easier on the eyes.
If you clear your browser cookies you’ll need to re-click the toggle.
Wide Site Layout
The right-hand sidebar has been removed from the forum section, now that the information is available via the mega menu. Hover over the “Forums” tab to see the last 7 replies. If you wanna see more, click “See More” to be taken to the Recent Topics thread.
This frees up the site for a more generous fit.

(There are more changes coming shortly, such as the psychological survey and skeleton structure of model 2.)

Hello,
And speaking of having complete modern forum functionality, we now have properly functioning member “blogs” or “walls.” I dunno what to call it. It goes by different names: Profile Comments, Status Updates, etc – like what you see on facebook with nested comments. Now, when you go to your profile you will see this at the bottom:
Posting on your blog/wall:
Where it says “What’s new, (name)?” You can type in a status update or anything you’d like to share or blog about. It will then turn into a comment right below the entry field.
Commenting on someone else’s blog/wall:
And you can also directly reply to other people’s blogs/status-updates/walls, like so:
But you won’t be able to start your own comment chains on someone else’s profiles, only comment on existing status updates or activities.
Hope you all enjoy!
P.S. Errr, please don’t abuse the feature tho…
…like, spamming other member’s walls. Same rules apply to the walls as they do to the forum.
(Sidenote: This feature has been technically available in the software for a while now, but the functionality was poorly designed. I tweaked the original code to put the status updates right below profile information, and set it to only filter for status updates (“blogs”) by default.)

Notice: For anyone else who got a message from Grace Marc, please ignore the message. It was a spambot that got through — now that the forum is open.
I have a Captcha on the site but it doesn’t seem to be enough to catch spambots, so I’ve also added email verification to help with that. When making a new account, you’ll get a link in your email. Click that link to activate your account. Then you’ll be able to login and post. π
Thanks!
