This is just a quick video talking about how the types relate to each other from what I have observed with my own feelings towards other types and how it seems types on the forum are relating to each other in general.
the rings I discuss are these,
(SeTi, TiNe, NeFi, FiSe)
(NeTi, TiSe, SeFi, FiNe)
(NiFe, TeNi, SiTe, FeSi)
(NiTe, TeSi, SiFe, FeNi)

I think you hit the nail on the head again. Now that I think about it I feel like FiSe, TiNe, and NeFi are surprising more relatable than SeFi and NeTi at most times.

I'm glad that someone is bringing this up because I've been dying to start another thread or maybe continue the one that we had about celebrity couples since there's defintely a pattern with compatibility and type.
Also, from what I've read in Discord about who's dating who, most of them either belong in a supervisor/supervisee, semi-duals, duals or a super-ego relationship.
Could someone recreate this with darker writing? My computer eyes can't clearly make it out and it looks interesting. Thanks!
Hi! Are we talking strictly relational compatibility here, or are we talking about compatibility in efficiency of information transfer between people?
If we're talking relational compatibility, I'll say that if I'm deeply involved with someone, Fi and Se are nearly essential. If we don't have the same depth of understanding about ourselves and our emotions, the way I understand Fi, it's an absolute no-go. Almost the same goes for Se. If we don't speak the same sensual language, or if we don't have fun in a compatible way, there's no way I'm going to stick around. In fact, for most of my relationships, the early processes mostly take place in Se. The big flirting game, meeting each other in that moment of attraction, etc etc. It all depends so much on the subtlety and hypersensitivity of Fi and Se that I really believe a satisfying relationship with anyone not having those qualities would be difficult for me.
If we're talking about transfer of information, there are a few things I could say here too. One is that some people, regardless of type, are more trained in writing than others. I was deeply into writing for a long time, and if I am any good at conveying information well, it is because I learned and care about how to do it. I don't think type has much to do with learning that skill. Ji leads may care about it disproportionately though.
With regards to type, I've had difficulty seeing eye-to-eye with more than a few NeFis, and had difficulty understanding more than a few SeTis. The theory behind CT even gives a possible reason: we metabolize second-to-second information in very different ways, and we are led to draw vastly different conclusions from that same information.
I was into socionics for a long time, but at this point, I have very little belief in it's usefulness. I think it can even promote a harmful idea of relationships. They aren't a business agreement. They shouldn't be thought of as mutually beneficial in the way that socionics promotes duals and the like. Really opposites rarely attract, and you should never ever depend wholly on someone else for perspective, or vice versa. We should just do what feels natural, and have the benefits of the relationship come as a happy surprise later. Going into something with the motive of fitting together like pieces of some metaphysical puzzle is just a recipe for a frustrating and unhealthy relationship / friendship / interaction. Expectations kill genuine human interaction.
Sorry to totally shit on your idea and the rings of benefit! It's something that's rubbed me the wrong way for a really long time and I can get pretty direct about it.
So...I will be honest and say I think I get along with people of any type...and I really, really tested this on the discord chat with almost - if not all - types. Yes, I am a little bit more careful with directive and unseelie people than with adaptive and seelie ones, when I feel there might be a major risk of conflict and obviously I don't bomb alpha NTs with a lot of information with highly emotional content or challenge a directive beta concerning his beliefs. I adapt to people and I think that's a pretty...basic thing to do and one of the reasons we study typology.
I don't...recruit people in my life based on type. I just see what type my friends are and adjust to it a little bit better than if I didn't know it. Because what brings us together is not the metabolic part but our goals and interests...and life itself, chance.
I don't need any type, quadra or development level to truly empathize with someone or to communicate well enough in order to make myself understood and to understand what the other person feels...at least the thick brushstrokes of their experience will be transmitted successfully if we are both being honest, open and patient.
Also, I don't like the idea of using typology in dating...at least not in this way ! I noticed a lot of people - especially Socionics fans - tend to believe there is a magic recipe for the best match and when they start getting along with someone of a non compatible type - according to that theory, they are still so convinced that Socionics is right, that they start doubting their own (extremely obvious) type, because they think the attraction and friendship they are building with the other person can't possibly happen if the types don't match !!! Which is wrong and extremely damaging, as it leads to mistypings !
Now, in my opinion any type can have a meaningful relationship/friendship/partnership with any other type.
Maybe there really are some patterns, especially in romantic relationships, but I doubt they are consistent over all types and development levels. For example I guess a Ji lead might prefer dating another Ji lead, while a Je lead might NOT love the idea of dating another Je lead. :)) Also a female reviser might like the idea of dating a male conductor more than a male reviser would love to date a female conductor - at least in more traditional societies.
I guess it's a subject worth exploring but it should be taken with a huge grain of salt.
Of course, attraction is another issue than friendship/communication. It's possible that some people feel a stronger attraction for certain types and I guess these people should date the types they feel attracted to.
Interesting idea, and also interesting that some people agree and some disagree. My scientific side wants to conduct a controlled experiment, in which I would have a chance to exchange information with 16 strangers, one of each type, and rate how well I was able to understand each person's thoughts, as well as how well I felt they were getting me, and then see what types everyone was. In reality, though, two things--one I don't talk to enough people to have my own idea, and two, I'm unable to be objective. Like for example, my significant other turns out to be my conflictor type in Socionics, and I would naturally like to believe that we have good communication, because I think that's what decent people try to do with their loved ones.
That's why I would do an experiment with strangers, because it would be the closest I could get to being objective.
True, I do tend to find your (@greencoyote) thoughts pretty straightforward and don't have trouble following them. I know one SeTi in real life, and pretty much the same. I don't know if NeTi's on the other hand, have a tendency to get more long-winded, and my mind starts to wander after listening to a certain threshold of Ti, or if it's just a coincidence--too small sample size.
I do have Gulenko's latest book. I bought it before coming to CT. Maybe I'll go back to it and look if there's anything in it on these rings. XD
Love the feedback guys, even those who “shat on my parade” lol.
yeah this was just something i noticed in myself and others. Totally not valid enough to be a fully fleshed out theory.
i did notice it in myself in how i relate to the information types present, and more specifically in writing, just to clarify that.
also i cant remember who wrote it but i completely agree with letting real moments of truth, harmony and honesty between two people dictate how compatible two types are and not using systems of type to determine it. In reality. The real relationship inevitably wins out in the end. Not the hypothesis on compatibility or theory on compatibility. I will say tho that i like using the types to try to figure it out though! ?
it just seems like some really cool thing to uncover if it can be uncovered.
thank you for all the replies and listening guys!
Also Janie, i have seen a lot of relationships where people are with their conflictor in socionics. My parents for example. Dads a SiFe and moms a TeNi. They are both vultology tested and analyzed. They have been married for almost 35 years. They dont get along perfectly but not totally disagreeable. Thats prolly what marriage does to people tho lol
@greencoyote
I thought I remembered seeing you write this before.. this feels like deja vu. But anyway, I had the exact same observation on an old thread here.
