Thought I'd share what I sent Jack on here.
Hey Jack. Hope this message finds you well.
I wanted to let you know that I am still new to typology. I am sure you probably have figured that out by now. I have only been researching it for a year and a half. I sort of need to explore all facets of the many models and break them all down in my own mind, which has only happened to a small degree thus far. Nevertheless, socionics interpretations, some of CT's and Jung's are the only explanations congruous with my experience.
The question I asked in the forum of CT, which you answered, regarding what trauma does to the functions. I appreciated your answer. Anyway, the point of this is I've been reading Jung (finally) and I am understanding the translation over fairly easily. He does not mention trauma much at all in AOTCU or Psychological Types but there are passages that can be interpreted over as relating to trauma (and I have thought on them).
Jung talks about the inferior function being conscious, unless there is some sort of neurosis. He then states that it can partially dissolve into the unconscious and in some cases entirely. So, it seems like the inferior function is the doorway to the unconscious or a buffer to the unconscious (in a healthy person). He also talks about multiple personalities in AOTCO and how the ego can split and the otherwise inferior but ego functions can break apart from the dominant function and create an alter ego that punishes the ego. I thought about all this with the little that I know about typology. I do however know a great deal about trauma and the mechanism of how it works, or rather how I think it works, because for fifteen years I have paid special attention to my thoughts, what they mean, and whether or not they are true. Many times I attempted what you could call a "soul retrieval" and failed every time.
After reading Psychological Types, surely I am an introverted intuitive but I am double introverted. I think as an introvert you shed your extroverted functions in an effort to cope with trauma. I am not sure, but I believe I have seen double extroversion in those I know with complex trauma as well. The trauma deprives the sufferer of energy, as this is always complained about in anyone with PTSD, the constant fatigue. So, essentially you have the (holes in the ego), which would be those functions, which disbanded as fallout from the trauma. For me this would be Fe and Se. What is interesting is there is this attitude within me I have noticed, or a contradiction, where my Ti has taken on the attitude of what my Fe should have been and my Fe has lashed myself and others with the harshness of what Ti can be at its worst. So, I have this innocent warmth with my thinking, that means well, universally, through Ni, but also never plays well because it gets corrupted by the negativity and suspiciousness my shadowy Fe simultaneously feeding my Ni the false perceptions of my Se. There seems to be this dynamic wherein the Fe is holding onto energy that it can extract at anytime from Ni or Ti, shut things down and take over. This must be the defense mechanism in actuality that was created during the break off and fallout from the trauma. We know that trauma holds onto energy. I think we can know this for sure because of the ability for trauma to distort and/or transcend time through dissociation, depersonalization, and flashbacks.
Se is not as easy to pin down in trying explain the damage it has done from its position as the inferior but also bonded to Fe, outside of my conscious control, but still within proximity to influence perception and judgment. I have noticed that my "failures in action" or failures in using any sort of force against my neurosis creates an unconscious to conscious domino effect from white black and black to white and back down into the Shadow, where things are only perceived as frozen in time. In this hijacking, failure is experienced as Ni collapsing inward in the sense that "every failure is part of the pattern of failure and so is part of the destiny." My Ni idealistic vision I maintained in between the swells, I am forced to shed in order to survive. This effect has had the ability to poison my perception, until it eventually recovers, but what suffers most is my worldview, which needs to be rebuilt to just dissolve again into what seems to be my unconscious.
Not trying to piss and moan. I just am wondering if this is meaningful in someway. I tried to report when I am perceiving the best I can, because I have practiced this ability to be partially aware, or mildly rational and observant, during my most irrational states of mind.

@jay, Great post. I agree with a lot of what you are saying here, putting it in better words and more perceptive than I could even though I share some of your experiences. I would also say that trauma/punishment can be self-inflicted too and which can stop one's development, which I think you kind of touch upon when you say there is a splitting of personality of ego and alter-ego (shadow?) (that is, in not forgiving oneself/one's past (so one can also forgive others too) and not allowing oneself to let the old die and the new be birthed (ego/alter-ego converge to be one/the Self). One get's stuck because the psyche wants to advance (the unconscious wants the self to grow/adapt, that's the power it has, so perhaps it takes more drastic means (chaos creating alter-ego) to show one how consciously one is stopping/avoiding their own development because one can't accept the change. The more one avoids, the more painful/drastic the situation can become.

@scientiam Good interpretation. It made me think about it more. Ultimately, I think I have an idea what has been going on but explaining it the way I seem to 'know' it is another thing.
This post really is not about me. I am using my experience as an example. I have lost a few friends/relatives to depression or PTSD, so I want to understand why in the hopes that maybe we can figure something out that develops a new therapy that actually works.

PTSD is short for Painful Tipping Sideways Definitively.

I'm inspired to report my ongoing thoughts of @jay 's thread. I like to know if dealing with your trauma operates in a way similar to my own. Words in bold indicates trauma incoming. Word in italic indicates trauma outgoing. Words in bold and italic indicates trauma phasing.
The read It's so long... I need to be patience... I don't need to be anything... But I wonder if he is Pi Ni-ego what contrast will I take from this as a Pe lead Ni-ego... I can't go writing and reading things thinking in terms of identity... In order for me to be in my entity form... my true self... I'll need to let go of my cognitive possessions. But why do I stop short on reading what I think a long passage is? What is like to think as an Pi lead Ni ego? Is there a way to interpret which leads to the most gain.
Jack... is Jack the guy the here or from that Flow State thing?... whatever they what want to call themselves? He's only know about typology for so little... I got the impression he's know about it for eons... Is reading one of Jungian main books? holy .... those things are massive...  I would it slow me down... I'll need to bring that information to life in someway before I could absorb any it... That's cool his reading it maybe I'll access some cool stuff through his mind...
Trauma... his been mentioning that for some time... that seems to be a central thing for him... It makes me want to bring about my way of enlightenment... I have no idea if it would help another's cognitive structure. Also I wouldn't want anyone just assuming I need there help... to think he's far from it wouldn't be a high EQ thing to do.
The inferior doorway to the unconscious. Yeah that sound something he would figure out. This makes me thing that any functions of the first four that are undeveloped are at least at higher level of unconsciousness than the last four functions. This might have been already mentions many times after the developmental marks where installed.
The lead function being attacked by the next three in a personality split. IDK ... I'm leaning towards not likely. I'm thinking that in most situations the Je-function would as protector take control of the rest... I want to say more but I all out of complete thoughts. I have met two IDDs
------------------------------------to be cont... maybe... I just read the rules & etiquette... not doing good on that... Auburn like this if you agree....

    @EpicEntity
Cool thought processes. we did a stream of consciousness writing exercise in theatre that seems similar to what you just wrote.
