After talking to @rickus and @delrake I thought it could be useful to have a thread where we can share dreams where we think we spot archetypes connected to our functions or where something seems linked to functions in any other way.
There is a place to discuss dreams in the chat but I think the forum keeps everything better structured and easier to search later. Plus I took a break from the chat for a while.
I will start with some of mine.
Super literal Te dream
I was walking through a school during coronavirus time, listening to kids' conversations about one of them who was sick and still coming to school, putting everyone in danger.
Suddenly a filthy, mad looking guy appeared and grabbed my arm, asking me if I wanted to be his girlfriend. He was also trying to convince me to quit my job and live with him. I refused. He insisted and I refused again, he was talking a lot but since it was a dream, I couldn't understand him very well.
Then I realized something was wrong. There was a cut on my cheek, pretty much like Te split cheeks, only it was a real cut and it created an opening to my mouth.
I thought the mad man had done it and got angry and scared. I was also eating something and trying to chew carefully in order to not widen the split, hoping people didn't really see the food inside through my cut cheek. (Sorry, guys, these are my dreams LOL).
I kept looking for someone to save me and I finally saw a lawyer who had represented the other party in one of our cases, who I believe is TeNi. Of course, he was never typed officially, so I can be completely wrong, but his vultology doesn't seem ambiguous to me. He is a very good lawyer, very convincing, he had won against us and taught me something that needed to be changed in our procedure that actually was changed by my boss afterwards, as he was totally right, that issue was not in order. :))) So, this guy appeared in front of me and my psycho suitor, wearing his black robe. And I ran to him and asked him to be my witness. I told him the guy had cut my cheek and that I will sue him. And he assured me he will be my witness, he knows very well who we are dealing with ! 🙂
I think both the crazy suitor and the lawyer represented Te...and maybe Ni too. The idea to quit my job matches my opinion that if I had conscious Te, I could start my own business. (of course I could now too but conscious Te would help in this, I guess)
The split cheek was representative of my fear of getting split cheeks if I developed Te.
The fear of people seeing the food might have stood for the concern of becoming too blunt and opinionated if I had more Te. We could say it was unseelie imagery too.
The lawyer seemed to be the lighter side of Te and Ni, having the role of a savior. But I can be your witness. I know what happened and I'm gonna say it !
Another one following...:)
Later edit - I wanted to add the dream I had last night, but I am not completely sure it has anything to do with this topic. It was for sure about something coming to light, but I don't know exactly what. I'll come back with it if I discover it fits here well and isn't about something different.
Feel free to post any dreams that look relevant, guys !
Hello Bera
Wow your dreams are fascinating to listen to, wish you could write a novel or story about them, I also get really strange wonderful and freaky dreams a lot. So would you say you subconsciously fear developing your Te, that is interesting to me. I think I have developed my Te but sometimes when I'm angry I go so far and can't seem to reign myself back in, because Se and Te together are an explosive combination oh my gosh haha. So I sometimes feel like my Te can be both a blessing and a bit of a curse.
Hello Bera
I've been having a lot of dreams lately, actually they are more like daydreams or mental pictures of people with wings, angels I guess. I have also imagined myself flying upwards continuously and holding the earth in my hands. I am curious what function this could be linked to, is it a Pe thing or Ni? I am unsure but its quite reoccuring. Its a feeling of wanting to escape my current surroundings.
Hello there
I have this really interesting, reoccuring mental image, which I think may have been inspired by the imagery of Locke and Key, a Netflix series. There is this magical key that you can put into your neck and turn it, then you can basically walk into your own mind, isn't that incredible.
In any case in my mental picture I see how my body is literally made of mechanical parts, gears, wheels, my eyes have these gigantic lenses attached to them and I can turn the outer gear to make the vision sharper.
I wonder what cognitive functions these visions are linked to? Is it possibly Extraverted Thinking, because I think the Thinking process can be linked to mechanics and robotic systems perhaps, though I'm unsure. I don't even see myself like that, so this fascinates me but also seems a bit strange.
I had a super interesting dream (for me) at least 1y ago.
I was in the house where I live alone and where I used to project (irl) much of me, as I identified it as my safe private space.
I entered the door, and, on the right, I found a cig half-used on the floor; it was wet.
Literally in every dream prior to this I was obsessed with cigarettes, craving for them, smoking, and one cigarette was always lighted on but on the floor on my right side. When I woke up this time, I realized that this was the last dream about cigs, because...
On the right, quite close to the wall, there was a rectangular white bowl full of water (like the ones I use for cats litter), and something was vibrating on the surface casuing circular waves to spread. It was a white, big, moth, I realized. It jumped out the bowl and started running along the perimeter of the rectangular room in a clockwise motion. It was super-quick! A bit shivery at first. While doing so, it changed into being a non-existing animal: a sort of fish which was "as big as a kitten" (that's the literal thought I had in the dream).
On the bottom-left corner of the room there was a sort of long brown superthin parasite which looked like it was dried out or maybe hibernated. It was hanging from the roof like a curl. It looked pretty dead. (Sensation?)
I went through the whole lenght of the room and on the top side (of the blueprint; basically, I was going straight ahead) and I found a snake and a very thin red (very beautiful, also) snake with the head of a dragon - it could also spew fire. (Feeling?) They were fighting against each other, it seemed, and I was afraid of both of them, but at a point I realized: the dragon was "good" and they were not gonna fight -- they were just on alert.
At that point, I had a key on my hands. It was white and blue, like this:
(not that spikey; it was all curvish)
The exit door was on the right side of the front wall, so I opened it, and LOADS of light entered the room. Only then I realized it had always been dark. I went out the room, closed the door and found myself in a white hallway.
I woke up. I felt relieved because I came to understand the dragon was not a threat, it could have been an alley instead; plus, I immediately identified myself with the key, in particular with the two half-circles.
I think in that period I was starting to acknowledge and accept my feelings.
