Pe/Pi/Ji/Je correspond to Big Five clusters (rewritten on 30 June 2019)
Questionnaires are very unreliable for individuals, yet in groups, errors offset each other. So, the Big Five does reliably identify what people consider the most important traits. Unfortunately, the five largest trait-clusters only cover about half of the personality variance; so, the boundaries and thus names are not at all clear.
A clear organization of personality is found, however, in the architecture of artificial agents. The precursor to Artificial Intelligence, Cybernetics, was defined as "Science concerned with the study of systems of any nature which are capable of receiving, storing and processing information so as to use it for control" (complexity expert Kolmogorov). And now Software Engineers still adapt software to the input, memory, processing, and output of the hardware.
Jordan Peterson and Colin DeYoung used this Cybernetic approach to clarify the most important trait clusters. A decade after the Big Five became the personality consensus, they published a paper that seems like an attempt to harmonize traits with the Jungian function-attitudes. They formulated the higher level meta-traits Stability/S and Plasticity/P, and divided each cluster in two lower level aspects: 10 Aspects of the Big Five.
Surprisingly, these aspects map onto the life currencies that I selected over years of obsessive planning! (As a Ne-lead, I'm constantly thinking of what I COULD do, which is always more than I CAN handle) According to the Big Five structure, I had to swap 'meaning' and 'virtue' in my planner, and that fits much better indeed (with hindsight). And is it a coincidence that I had trouble distinguishing Ne and Fi? So, maybe this can reveal a blindspot for you as well: which life currency do you currently ignore?

Hence, Openness to Experience falls under Pe (explore), Neuroticism under Pi (integrate), Disagreeableness under Ji (infer), and Conscientiousness under Je (express). Note that the Big Five clusters are greater than the sum of their aspects (just like Pe is more than Se+Ne). Moreover, even the aspects of the four trait-clusters roughly correspond to cognitive functions:

Extraversion corresponds to CT's Extraversion+Seelieness/Adaptiveness (rewritten on 30 June 2019)
Extraversion's Assertiveness corresponds to wanting (dopamine), whereas Enthusiasm corresponds to liking (opiates): Cybernetic Approaches to Personality and Social Behavior, DeYoung and Weisberg
So, Assertiveness corresponds to Jungian Extraversion (pursuing the object). And indeed, it correlates positively with Openness & Conscientiousness and negatively with Neuroticism & Disagreeableness — apart from the Compassion-aspect. This makes Fi's trait correspondence unreliable, unfortunately, especially with the Big Five's social bias (from its linguistic deriviation). And aren't compassionate people often more aware of their limited altruism?
Enthusiasm corresponds to the social aspect of Extraversion: Gregariousness in the Interpersonal Compass (Figure 16.2 / p.32). And the opposite is Aloofness, which is also induced by the depressing effects of opiates. So, Enthusiasm/Aloofness is indeed the light/dark axis, and therefore corresponds to CT's Seelieness/Adaptiveness.
I think there may be a parallel to be drawn between CT and cybernetics more generally. Cybernetics is the study of goal directed systems, be them biotic or abiotic.
Video Introduction to Cybernetics: https://vimeo.com/41776276
The word cybernetics has a greek root that means "to steer" and CT or Jungian typology more generally may be describing a cybernetic system. Cybernetic systems navigate towards goals in a realtime process and I think the Jungian cognitive functions may map nicely onto a cybernetic loop.
To use the analogy of steering a boat into port, Je may involve the act of adjusting the sails and rudder of the boat in order to reach the port, Pi may involve the act of consulting a map or the stars in order to determine one's location and orientation in a larger context, Pe may involve the act of capturing realtime inputs from the environment, such as currents, wind and the distant port, and Ji may involve the act of noticing when the boat's course needs to be realigned.
I'm nowhere near confident in these connections, but I do think it may be valuable to try to interpret CT through a cybernetic perspective.
