I've brought this up in our circles before but not here and I should probably make a record of it, so here goes.
First, there's a model of the psyche that sees it as consisting of cognition, emotion, and conation. Cognition is how we think/understand etc, emotion is as the name suggests, and conation refers to ACTION. The part of the mind operating when we are not just reasoning, desiring etc, but once we've COMMITTED our energies to an action. Some people call it WILL, but I think that's potentially confusing given all the connotations 'will' carries. The Kolbe theory is dedicated exclusively to conation and I believe it is a very correct and robust way of viewing behaviour, but not just any behaviour: goal-oriented behaviour.
Why do I bring it up here? Because I think conation may be clouding/interfering with CT, at least as far as some behaviour is concerned.
In short, the Kolbe says we have four modes of "getting things done". To translate it in CT terms, once our JE (or JE/PE? Idk) gets us to commit to a specific external outcome/goal, we have four instinctive ways we can go about making that happen. They're named in the Kolbe: Fact Finder, Follow Thru, Quick Start, Implementor. None of them kicking in before action is committed to. This is why I think they are a separate thing from CFs and EQs, or if not, they are an additional thing to the EQs+CFs combi, one without which certain predictions about behaviour based on CT alone may become problematic.
For example, I'm NeFi II-- (At least until I submit my vid for retyping soon, anyway!) According to CT, I should probably be highly exploratory and diagnostic in my mental orientation. That's easily true for me. If I was Te conscious, I could be predicted to display a procedural/logistical mental orientation in some decent degree too. What I mean to suggest is that this would all be cognitive, yet the corresponding EQs would predispose me to want to do things that correspond to this orientation too, upon development. Not because I must but because they'd be naturally attractive/pleasant and/or easy/accessible. It'd be a fairly predictable tendency: The EQ talents. This I think displays itself in the choices and preferences I might tend to make. So while possibly not as predictable as the NeFi II--, still fairly so.
In the Kolbe, I am a Preventive Follow Thru. I used to assume Follow Thru is Kolbe's Te, but I think they are only related. Per CT, I should be able to develop Je and Te, given enough psychological incentive to do so. I should be able to become a person who tends to want to "make things" happen, and who is able to deploy procedural intelligence with relative ease when I need it. But in the Kolbe, I will never become a person who, once I decide what thing I want to make happen (my goals), will instinctively proceed towards it in a Kolbe Initiating Follow Thru manner; In pursuing goals, I will still instinctively turn to my Fact Finder instincts/skills to devise strategies and I'll be implementing them in a Quick Start way throughout. Exactly like I did as I--- and II--. My developed Je will keep me on the goal more, and will probably lead me to having more of such goals and desires/interests in the first place, much more than I did as I--- or II--; My developed Te procedural intelligence will be deployed as demanded by my Fact Finder and Quick Start action instincts. But I will never become a person who, once I'm committed to making things happen, will do it by creating a bureaucracy.
Two years ago, I thought the Kolbe theory was another take on the same phenomenon as Jungian types or at least the fourĀ  Greek humours (our EQs), but it has become sharply clear to me since that it's a different but related thing. It's much more predictive of behaviour. Also, Kolbe instincts have proved fixed: people stay the same 10, 20, 30 years later. You don't "develop" instincts you don't have with experience, anymore than you develop a talent for clearing 100 m in under 10 seconds without having a certain talent for it from the beginning. Moreover, habitually trying to do things with your 'Preventive' instincts creates measurable conative stress (tension, joint pain etc) and depression, which gets worse with time rather than 'growing' you; It makes you sicker and sicker. Whereas we know here that we all have the potential/ability to develop all our four functions and all 4 EQs. Even if doing so may be very unpleasant at first, it's only so in the sense of muscle aches and workouts in a gym: Temporary and positive in the end.
I hope one day, in the future, once CT research is a thing beyond these circles, a grand model fed by both can be created by people who study human behaviour. I just want to plant these thoughts out here for y'all who may be interested.
