Here we have an NiTe sample of an esoteric shade with a special focus on Tarot. As briefly noted in the book, it does seem that the combination of Ni+Te can lend to a kind of "practical" magic and esotericism, as the karmic and synchronistic nature of Ni is interwoven into the objective and material domains of Te.
We see this in the SeFi crystal witches on youtube, but also in NiTe's like Heather above. NiTe Marie Von Franz also subscribed to a more literalistic synchronistic doctrine. In contrast, it seems to me that Betas treat the esoteric somewhat more cognitively and frame their mysticism more in terms of inner transmutation of character towards a transcendent moral actualization. But I am admittedly rather ignorant of precisely how this difference plays out. Would really love to hear more thoughts from some Gamma types.

Hey @auburn, I've been using the Tarot and I Ching whenever my intuition thinks I should, and I track, follow and act based on the implications it has for the present/future based on their readings. That is, I have stopped imaginatively extending myself into the future and now rely on these readings to guide me. Wouldn't that be a sort of practicality too, a kind of NiSe "practicality"?
Right, hmm. Maybe I have to rethink the relationship between practical magic and type more. Come to think of it, some Deltas also subscribe to it, so maybe it's not the presence/absence of practical magic per quadrant, but the form and style of it differs? I do think there's a difference between Gamma and Beta esotericism, generally speaking, although something like Tarot may be a poor case study for the differences -- since it's a tool widely shared?
I don't yet understand the Gamma and Beta differences as well as I'd like; for those out there who practice divination in some form, how does it work for you, how do you practice it and what are the results you get from it?

I can confirm my interest in woo is not connected to the desire of inner transmutation of character. I am focused on understanding how things work...if there are any hidden mechanisms behind "reality", what are they? And how can they be useful to us? Can these mechanisms / divine rules be used by us to predict future events and, therefore, be better prepared when they are to come? Can we somehow tap into the energies that rule everything from underneath and make certain pointed changes that would lead to real life consequences?
These seem to be the questions I gravitate towards.
I believe that a spiritual path naturally leads to more knowledge and to a better self understanding. I don't see this as being connected in any way to character/virtues though. It's about knowledge and energy/power. I don't really see character as something to be transformed, it looks to me as if it's a given set of cards you can use in different ways. Anyway if change was possible, it's not the focus in my case...it might happen as a collateral effect but it's not what I am specifically aiming to accomplish.

My use of divination is similar to @Bera's. Nonetheless, the end goal is an eventual inner transformation of the self, but the road to that transformation is actually quite grounded, methodical, and requires discipline. For example, some banishing rituals are nothing more cognitive psychotechnologies to cut away intrusive and unwanted thought patterns. The mechanism is less divine and more grounded and practical, and a lot of these practices can be incorporated as DBT or CBT practices. My overall aim to be a more effective and powerful version of myself which can only be achieved through practice, discipline, and self-reflection. I don't necessarily believe in God, but the saying "God only helps those who help themselves" rings true in this context. Power and progress don't come from the divine or anything transcendent but is wholly immanent from within the self, and one that needs be brought out through a lot of self-work.
My interest in esoterica mainly stems from my insatiable curiosity. I have this rapacious need to know. Even though I'm no longer in school I still study, namely typology, philosophy, religion, and of course esoterica. But there's a deeper motivation than just knowledge; it's to expand my worldview, to increase the flexibility of my mind, to keep my critical thinking skills sharp, and to eventually combine these systems to create a more comprehensive and holistic worldview, all of which have immediate and long-term beneficial effects. It helps that all of these systems are already connected and overlap in important ways.
@Thana , I can relate.
desire to know,
unwanted thoughts,
speak it sister!
I've used tarot before...
can never figure out if the cards are reversed or upright so I always end up with two readings opposite from one another, kinda of a pain ha ha.

What you said is very interesting, Thana, because it seems to be exactly what I think when I try to channel Ni. I believe unconscious/undervalued Ni can manifest in a more fatalistic worldview. There are dark forces that threaten life and it's not clear if they are external or internal.
When Ni gets a bit closer to the surface, one of the possible consequences seems to be the impression that you are in a position of power. You can control you own destiny by changing the narrative. I visualize this as getting control over the "threads of fate".
Now I experienced...and somewhat still experience this whole process as a dive in a very dark place. I think Ni heaviness and Se trickster myth are deeply connected. When trying to travel Ni grounds, I see Ni as a trap setting force and myself (Se?) as a thief. Also it's like the moment I get closer, Ni already knows I am there and is preparing for my arrival. So, in order to gain some control over the situation, spontaneity is needed. So that -oh, dear, this sounds insane :)) - so that Ni doesn't have time to attack. Because in my mind Ni needs more than the present moment, more than the blink of an eye to change the narrative. So the only way of "winning" is to act immediately and keep acting here and now without hesitation.
Now every time I try to visualize a confrontation with what I imagine as Ni, it always ends in a violent and unsettling way. But from a higher perspective, it's not very clear who is actually the villain. It's a video game scenario, a beat this boss and take the loot scenario. Dark Souls comes to mind, though I never played it. :))
Though I rarely managed to turn this inner film in anything else but killing, devouring and zombie apocalypse scenes :))) - it seems like Ni has risen up a bit and her (my..?) perspective seems to be - the power is all mine. There is no outer force that determines destiny. I am in control of my own fate.
It's interesting this really looks like Ni and not Te. It must be connected to narrative building.
I don't know the extent of power and how much of the story can be (re)written by us. I am not sure if getting really "close" to Ni, I will in the end realize everything I considered spiritual is actually a part of my own psyche writing narratives that look karmic and tap into the archetypal and are full of symbolism or if I will become sure that there is something "out there" that Ni simply has direct access to. Some betas, including Ni leads and Ni conscious seem to be sure it's the latter case. I am not convinced. It might be a combination of both. We do have some general spiritual laws; a part of the book exists and Ni has access to it...then another part gets written as we go. The devil knows what part already exists and what part was added. 🙂 Or there is no in and out and the question itself is pointless.
My experiences have taught me that there is a higher intelligence intertwined with our conscious experience. What it is, who knows? I personally believe that consciousness is non-local. Remote viewing - the projecting of one's consciousness over vast distances in space and, sometimes, even time - has been unequivocally proven to be a very real phenomenon. You may not hear about it so much in the mainstream, but the supporting evidence is all there. The implications of this are obvious.
Psychedelic visions. Shamanistic spirit quests and transformations, high strangeness...
There is far more to all of this than what we perceive, or what we wish to believe.
I admit that I'm only really intrigued by things which are backed by evidence, or I have had personal experiences with. There's a constant tug-o-war in my mind between the woo and the hard-headed Te. Things need to make good sense, but often don't. How to reconcile?
Maybe that isn't the point.
TL;DR - shit's weird, and if you think otherwise, you *really* need to be paying more attention.
