Yea, I am concerned about members deciding just to not come online, and/or not participate because they feel too exposed. So while this can encourage participation, it can also discourage it.

The behavioural hallmark of an unintegrated F split, is that ones reaction to situations are fairly rigid and repetitive in terms of adapting to other vs being self-assertive.
One simply repeats the pattern in a not always contextually appropriate manner, because one is reacting against an ever-present but unprocessed

I hadn't thought about this before, but yeah you could just browse primarily as a guest and only log if you wanted to post, that combined with the ability to hide the sidebar itself seems like it covers most of the privacy/ invasion concerns so far.
