What is Cognitive Typology?
Is it a personality theory? Is it related to MBTI, Carl Jung, or is it something else? How is this different from other projects? If you’re completely new, you’ve in the right place.

A Comprehensive Model
Cognitive Typology covers the phenomenon of type at all scales of magnification,
from the cognitive level to the visual level, the behavioral level, and the psychodynamic level.

Metabolism

.

We start with how the cognitive functions exist as metabolic pathways of the brain at the millisecond level. The functions construct one's cognitive experience and the qualia of one's  phenomenology.

Next, those metabolic processes manifest facial and bodily expressions as a byproduct of their cognitive operations. These signals transpire at the second-by-second level and can be read to identify type.

Behavior

.

We next scale up to the level of daily activities and behaviors. At this scale, cognitive type manifests through typical lifestyle choices, career differences, preferences and  perspectives on life.

Psychodynamics

.

Lastly, type manifests in decade-long or life-long patterns and struggles. Our type influences the major challenges we face, our ego formation and the nature of our unconscious.

A Growing Public Body of Data
We believe our model's only as good as the amount and quality of data we possess.

  • What I find very attractive about the CT approach is its sincere interest in the truth of type. Their Youtube channel may have a small following at present, but the quality of the material available is unfathomable. The creators of CT are so focused on creating a solid, falsifiable and replicable scientific model, and are so interested in the pursuit of the truth, that they are not considering the marketing aspect a priority. CT may not be as well-known and ubiquitous as things like CS Joseph and Objective Personality, but I believe that it is the best of the three, and the real future of scientific typology.

  • Firstly, even if you are super skeptical about the notion of figuring out somebody's type by watching their facial expressions, still take a look at the book. You don't even necessarily have to buy it, as I understand he's put a significant amount online just because he wants to get the ideas out there more than anything else... He's put a lot of time into this book so definitely check out the information 'cause that's what he, if anything, is looking for.

  • Cognitive Typology is a fantastic system. My favorite one so far as it's truly doing something different in the world of typology and is trying to make an objective typing system, which isn't by any means an easy task to do. The concepts of CT, the functions, the compound functions, the developments, all of these are fantastic. On top of developing a system that makes sense, there's also case studies and research that adds validity to the theories that CT talks about. This isn't something that I've seen with other systems. If they do, they don't share this publicly, but CT does.

  • The most significant obstacle to me landing on an accurate “type” was me. For decades, I mastered wearing a “skin”. It was akin to wearing gorilla costume compared to an actual gorilla. Not only did I deceive others, but I also deceived myself.
