It’s been a month since I wrote an update.
My health, on all fronts, feels as if it is in a major decline, possibly even a nosedive.
I’ve started therapy, and my optimism has given way to pessimism as it really seems true that therapy isn’t abut solving any of the route causes of negative/disruptive behavior so much as it is about treating the…[Read more]

People don’t always want dogs running up to them, and cats don’t always want people coming up to them. Does that mean that to dogs, people are like cats and to cats, people are like dogs?

I decided to get drunk tonight.
Good news: I can still type without terrible spelling mistakes
Bad news: I will be sober in the morning

Incredibly happy that I managed to be productive today.
Only part that’s unfortunate is that I still have to be productive.

I’ve spent all day running numbers through some budgeting spreadsheets I designed, assessing what life is going to look like after this December.
Here’s what’s going on for anyone that looks over this: Teaching jobs at the collegiate level are about to get real lean in my area.
I’m at a university, and I don’t see a future with myself there, not…[Read more]

I just spent 4 hours writing a forum post.
I could have been super productive and grading this whole time….
You know… we’re all free to choose our priorities.

    Good news.
I realized that I can always channel my feelings into angst.
Angst feels way better than despair.

    Woke up manic this morning.
Now I’ve hit an afternoon low: feeling isolated, hopeless, and helpless.
I didn’t have my journal with me, so I decided to just get it out here.
Maybe to hope that someone somewhere will see something.
At least then I’d know that this is real.

Productive day, which is always a welcome change for me, but it turned out to be emotionally exhausting.
A big pile of wins and a big pile of loses, and while that sounds like a good way to balance the scales, it just makes the burden greater.
Listening to music is sometimes all there is to do when it comes to some feelings.
That leads me to the…[Read more]

Establishing a routine has gone well, much better considering that the whole family is on board with the change.
I think we all needed it.
Things are getting a little better with my class as well, especially after I was sent a random email thanking me for making the class enjoyable. That’s the sort of feedback that will help me carry on and…[Read more]

Today was stressful; however, it wasn’t a bad day.
The problem is just my obsession with ensuring I do everything in my power to help students develop into sharp-wits and better writers….
This is apparently too much to ask for; however, I cannot be so unfair to say I’m not the problem in some capacity. After all, I’m the professor, so their…[Read more]

The morning and midday were both marked by a lot of grading.
A student schooled me on a critical mistake I made concerning their assignment for this week.
Of course this took place right after I had expressed a great deal of anger concerning the fact that many students have neglected buying the class text despite telling them numerous times.
    The…[Read more]

Feels like a lot happened today, but I’m fairly sure that’s only because quarantine and graduating from the MA program have given me a lot of free time and very little to do.
Of course, in my common fashion, my talents in self-starting leave me quite unproductive.
The need to set myself on a consistent schedule grows daily.
    Another interesting…[Read more]

Today I spent some time thinking.
Very often, when I see myself slipping into an existential dread, I turn to art.
And I don’t mean that in the traditional sense. I don’t paint, write poetry or stories, but everything I say, write, or do starts to stand out as a sort of artistic endeavor.
It’s common I get overwhelmed in these times, for I often…[Read more]

I have recently been typed as an SeFi type. Its really fascinating how much sense it makes. I never thought I was an Extroverted Sensation type because I have such a strong imagination that I automatically linked it to Extroverted Intuition. However I have realized that my imagination is directly influenced by the external visual experiences I…[Read more]
